Roadspan has been awarded a contract in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Tenke Fungurume Mine approximately 175 km west of Lumbambashi. The client is Tenke Fungurume Mining Company as subsidiary of Freeport McMorran in the USA.
The scope of work involves manufacture and paving of 80 000 ton of asphalt on the airstrip and various roads on the mine over a period of 8 months. In terms of materials for the asphalt manufacture, Roadpan is providing 4100 tons of bitumen from RSA. The aggregate is crushed by the client and provided to Roadspan on site. Roadspan Asphalt Plants (Pty) Ltd is sending one of their mobile asphalt plants up to the DRC and Roadspan Surfaces (Pty) Ltd will provide an experienced paving team. The value of the contact is US $ 9 500 000.
