Shareholders
One of Roadspan’s biggest strengths are its shareholders. We are really privileged to have substantial players in the South African business arena as shareholders in Roadspan. Their investment strategy is built around long term returns and they are all committed to the growth of Roadspan into a significant Roads group.
WBHO
In a deal signed in March 2010, WBHO has acquired 70% of the Roadspan Group. This includes their contracting arm, Roadspan Surfaces and the Asphalt Plant business. The association with WBHO is expected to offer significant benefits to the recently formed Roadspan. (www.wbho.co.za)
The following three shareholders have an equal 10% share holding:
Ellerine Bros. (Pty) Ltd
Ellerine Bros. is an investment company whose investments are primarily in South Africa and fall into three main categories:1. Listed equity investments i.e. Companies quoted on the JSE Limited
2. Property Investments
3. Private equity investments inclusive of loans and advancesTheir private equity investments are primarily in companies with growth potential and strong management. They bring significant retail and strategic experience from their numerous other interests. In addition Ellerine Brothers has a large portfolio on the JSE and Alt X. Their property investment portfolio consists of direct ownership in regional and super regional retail shopping centers e.g. JSE Building, The Glen, Canal Walk and Fourways Crossing amongst others.
CoroCapital
CoroCapital is the private equity and investment banking arm of Coronation Investments & Trading (CIT). CIT is a privately owned financial services company with operations in South Africa, Ireland and the UK. It is also a material shareholder in Coronation Fund Managers, a public company listed on the JSE. CoroCapital's investment philosophy has been to back companies with demonstrable management expertise and above average growth prospects. Notable transactions to date include A&D Spitz, Johnnic, Metair, Real Africa, Sasani, SA Scientific, Sea Harvest and Sentula.
Amrite Group (Pty) Ltd
Amrite is a newer and much smaller entity than either Ellerine Bros or CoroCapital. It originated as a result of the acquisition of the Sasani media group in October 2005 and has subsequently made investments in the Welding and Gas distribution sector (Weldcom Distribution and Welders Warehouse) and more recently into Roadspan. Amrite looks for growth opportunities and takes a hands-on day-to-day management role in all of its investments. Through its shareholders and staff, Amrite tries to add a broad range of experience, good management practices and strong financial disciplines into all its investments.
